What we do with your information — in plain English.
Newbury Men's Shed is a small not-for-profit community group. We collect as little information as we can, we don't track you around the web, and we never sell or share your details for marketing. This page explains the rest.
Newbury Men's Shed, next to Shaw Social Club, Almond Ave, Newbury, Berkshire RG14 1LU. We are the “data controller” for the information described here. For anything to do with your information, email info@newbury-mens-shed.org.
When you use our contact form we collect your name, your email address, and — only if you choose to give them — your phone number, what you're interested in, and your message. We use this solely to reply to you. The form sends us an email; we don't store it in a database on this website.
When you simply browse the site we don't collect anything ourselves. Our web host keeps standard server logs, which include your IP address, for security and troubleshooting.
We have no analytics, no advertising and no tracking pixels on this site. We don't build a profile of you, and we don't add you to any mailing list unless you ask us to.
When you join the Shed we keep a membership record. That is your name and contact details, the emergency contact you give us, and a note of your subscription payments — nothing else. We keep it to run the Shed, to administer your membership, and so that we can reach someone quickly if you're taken ill or have an accident on site.
We do not hold medical or health information about members, we do not keep photographs of members, and we do not carry out DBS checks. Where a number is needed — for our insurance, for example — we provide a head count only, never names or anyone's personal details.
We keep your membership record for as long as you're a member and for a period afterwards in case questions come up about subscriptions or insurance, then we delete it.
This website sets no cookies of its own. When you choose Accept or Decline on our cookie notice, we remember your choice in your browser's local storage so we don't keep asking — that stays on your device and is never sent to us.
The map on our Contact page is provided by Google and does set cookies, so it stays switched off until you agree to it. If you decline, the map never loads. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this website.
The fonts and icons our pages use are served from this website rather than from another company's servers, so simply reading a page here doesn't reveal your visit to anyone else at all.
That's the complete list for anything you send us through this website. We don't sell your information, and we don't pass it to anyone else unless we're legally required to.
Membership records stay within the Shed. They are not shared with anyone outside it — not with the Men's Sheds Association, and not with our insurers, who need only a head count.
We keep enquiry emails for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards, then delete them. If you'd like us to delete your enquiry sooner, just ask.
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to show you what information we hold about you, correct it if it's wrong, or delete it. You can also object to how we're using it. Email info@newbury-mens-shed.org and we'll deal with it — there's no charge, and we'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and change the date below.
